Secretarys Report A motion to approve the Secretarys Report as written unanimously passed.
Treasurers Report The Treasurer reported $4,178.44 in the NRP Account and $7,005.96 in the Income Account.
CCP/SAFE Jennifer Neale CCP/SAFE Officer Neale provided an overview of Armatage Community criminal activity. Community concerns include graffiti and vandalism and an increase in burglaries over the past two years. A Community Building Blocks Award will be given to the 5500 block of Richmond Curve and the 5500 block of Queen Avenue. The awards recognize blocks that work to connect neighbors and promote safe communities. The ceremony will be held at 7:00 p.m., March 29, 2006 at the Bill and Bonnie Daniels Firefighters Hall & Museum in Northeast Minneapolis. Award recipients will receive signage to be posted on their blocks, a plaque, and a check from Cub Foods for $100.00 to buy supplies for the National Night Out event.
13th Ward Update Council Member Betsy Hodges updated attendees on City and Ward activities: Police Chief McManus will be leaving his position to become the Police Chief of San Antonio, Texas. Officer Tim Dolan will act as Interim Police Chief while an internal and external search for a new Police Chief is conducted; an interested party is considering opening a restaurant in the now vacant Connors Deli space at 54th and Penn. The potential proprietor asked Council Member Hodges whether the Armatage community would support a liquor license (wine/beer/hard liquor). Following a loose poll of attendees it was revealed that, of those in attendance, the community would welcome a restaurant. However, while wine and beer seemed to be acceptable, concern was raised regarding the atmosphere that would accompany a full bar.
Armatage Park Update Park Director Jerry Peterson shared park activity information. The fields will be in playable condition for spring baseball and softball. The batting cage and tennis courts are also ready for community use. The Urban Tennis program is being considered at Armatage. More information on the program will be available at a later date. The Park and Recreation Board are seeking individuals 15 years of age to adult to umpire games. Literature regarding this paid position is available at the park building front desk. There is community concern regarding insufficient lighting in the parking lot. Jerry is working with the Park Board to reconcile the problem.
Board Member Ballots Board ballots were distributed. A floor nomination was made to add community resident Dan Beskar to the ballot. The ballot was unanimously passed by all attending ANA members.
ANA Phase II Action Plan NRP Coordinator Jennifer Swanson distributed a handout that communicated Armatage Neighborhood NRP Phase II Action Plan allocations. A motion was made to contract the rest of the Phase II plan minus the $112,000 that the neighborhood is required to withhold until March of 2008.
A motion to adjourn the meeting unanimously passed.
Respectfully submitted,
