ANA Neighborhood Meeting

21 November 2006

7:00 p.m. - Armatage Park

Mayor RT Rybak – The mayor talked about the skate parks that he built in MPLS Parks. Hiring 70 new officers. Prosecute youth violence and use summer jobs program to bring down youth crime. Utilizing relationships in state gov. to help get more funding. Raise expectations of our children.

Questions: Libraries – The referendum was to build and not to operate the libraries thus the short fall in operation funding.

Wants to have more traffic cops downtown.

Wants to have a regional sales tax like Denver.

Wants to have relief for property taxes.

Wants to have the city be a leader for environmentalism.

Working on the budget.

Meeting with council members to change the zoning of teardowns.

Close the revolving door for criminal behavior.

All coming from the same criminals and properties.

More outreach with the homeless.

Does not support panhandling. IF YOU DON’T LIKE PANHANDLING DON’T GIVE THEM MONEY!!!

Wireless internet will be in place in March.

Will not run for Senate.

Council Member Hodges: Addressing the Budget and Property taxes.

Reminder of the ward breakfast on the 3rd Wednesday of every month.

Winter rinks hopefully open 12-16-06.

Hot chocolate in warming room.

Asking for a donation of a pool table. Will report more later.

Motion passed to accept the meeting calendar for 2007.

Denis Houle was nominated to attend the NRP meeting.
