The area was checked but officers were unable to locate the vehicle or suspect.

The following are some tips for parents when talking to their children regarding strangers:

1. Teach your child(ren) your address and phone number, including the area code. Instruct your child(ren) on how to use the telephone to call home, and in an emergency, 911.

2. Keep an updated file on your child, including a photograph and physical description. If your child is under two years of age, you should update the information at least four times each year.

3. Pay close attention to the clothing your child is wearing each day and never display your child's name on his/or clothes or books. Children will often respond to strangers who call them by name.

Penn Ave Design Update
Written by Administrator
Thursday, 29 March 2012 07:05

March 28, 2012:  Considering input gathered at public meetings, Public Works has created a Layout 3 (see this link to view the Layout 3 graphic).  Layout 3 is similar to Layout 1 with a few significant revisions:

Bike lanes are no longer proposed for Penn Avenue.  Public Works is reviewing adjacent streets for bicycle improvements.  Shaun Murphy can be reached at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with any questions about the bike route review.

Parking is proposed on the west side of Penn, south of 58th Street except where that width is needed for the left turn lane and left turn lane tapers.

Parking lane width is increased to 10 feet at a few select locations where traffic volumes are over 10,000 ADT or where parking demand is very high and space for trees and grass is not sacrificed.

Public Works is recommending Layout 3 for Council Approval.

Note: Con The Minneapolis Park Board and Public Works are coordinating to replace ash trees as part of the project.

Note: MnDot is planning to re-deck the bridge over MN-62 in 2013
